what a weekend.

i have my normal medications to take; one white pill, one purple pill, one blue pill, one yellow pill ... you get the idea.. but having to watch the regional assembly on-line had me stressed.

i now realized i accidentally took too many of those big purple pills.

Reading the above makes me wonder about membership.

If you join a pony club, there is a common understanding about what a pony is based on the word 'pony'. You are shown pictures of ponies and told what the club is like. When you join you see one or two ponies. But for the most part it's just empty buildings.

Later you find out this is not a pony club but a front for a criminal gang.

What did you join? A pony club or a criminal gang?

That is what membership of the Watchtower is like, you are conned into joining. Likely, the person giving you the Bible study is giving it in all sincerity. Probably, they don't know the Watchtower is a front for something unchristian.

Helps them out during lockdown if householders approach them. Hope the call was viewed as a blessing. They don't want to cut these calls short. Keep them going. Easy way to pioneer and you get to be on at all the conventions.

it occurred to me - if you were giving ordinary members of the public a steer on how to deal with wt publishers what would you advise?.

When did WT lose the spirit?

at what time would you say that the watch tower schema lost the spirit?.

like the ancient nation of israel which struggled maintaining divine blessing due to a long series of grave errors that eventually culminated in definitive loss... how and when did watch tower lose the spirit?.

can we pinpoint a time or event?.

In Keith Casarona's book (p290) it say that several years after James Olson's death, Leo Greenlees, the pedophile and GB member left Bethel with their blessing and there money too.

So 1975 Greenlees leaves.

Then by 1980 they are pushing Ray Franz out. But he goes without their blessing.

Justaguynamedmorph - If you say, "when will you return to Jehovah," you have employed their own volcabulary (which THEY understand) and challenged them on their identity in a way that is meaningful to THEM.

Sure they'll say 'we are...blah blah bla'h - but this phrase isn't often said TO them.

Being kind to them can help, after all they are being cheated and it is sad. But even those who are still in but mentally out cannot wake up those who do not want to hear. It is a kind of superstition that holds them not any real association with the teachings in the Bible/Christianity.

Vanderhoven7 - yes no doubt some just view it as telling people God's name is Jehovah. A different approach was taken with me. I was told that making God's name know was Jesus showing people what Jehovah was really like. I certainly was in a very nice congregation for a time, where there were a good number of genuine Christians.

(John 14:9) . . .Jesus said to him: “Have I been with you men so long a time, and yet, Philip, you have not come to know me? He that has seen me has seen the Father. How is it you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

Our congregation was viewed as a refuge from other congregations where the elders were harsh.

On BBC Radio this morning there was a 20 minute piece on JWs and the child abuse cover up. I am already receiving reaction to it from a number of sources.

It occurred to me - if you were giving ordinary members of the public a steer on how to deal with WT publishers what would you advise?

I would explain that the name Jehovah is only the English pronunciation of God's name. In Hebrew God's name is written as 4 letters and is known as the Tetragrammaton. Others, such as the Catholics pronounce the Tetragrammaton as Yahweh.

Jehovah is the name of God the Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It was He who sent His Son, Jesus Christ to buy us back from sin and death.

Watchtower publisher don't serve Jesus Christ and His Father. So if you go up to them and say, "when are you going to return to Jehovah?" it might make them think because that is such a key phrase to them. On the other hand it might just annoy them. But that'd be quite funny.

There is someone who has faded BUT recently had to leave the country to escape WT.

Another thing - they are all locked up in their homes. Usually they are out standing sheepishly or arrogantly beside a trolley full of literature that no one wants. If they are not doing that they are tootling around housing estates either getting caught on householder's CCTV, or starting, what they imaginatively call, free home Bible studies. Or both.

Unable to persue their usual modus operandi, they are contacting those who have faded and I can report that locally there has been success. Someone has swallowed the bait.

A fader will have faded for a reason. But if you go back you find yourself in a radically different environment to that which you left. Now you either accept their ways or go immediately, no fade.

Also as lockdown eases, they are off out again. I am just waiting to see pictures of them, wearing face masks on electric scooters or segways with sandwich boards strapped on them. Or maybe just the magnetic trolley sign stuck on the front of their scooter. Look out for them at Halloween, you never know they might do a cracking trolley sign in pumkin orange with the phrase 'is Satan real?' written all over it.

Thank you for explaining Gone for Good. I was hurt, but not now :)

The reason why I do what I do is related to that Achilles heel, but I know I can't bring the Watchtower down.

For whatever reason, I am and always have been immune to the Watchtower's worst tricks. However, I can imagine the crisis that it puts some people into and if I can say anything to help and console such ones I will. What has happened to them IS NOT THEIR FAULT.

Watchtower can break your faith, your sanity and your powers of reason. The bottom line is, Watchtower does this through arithmetic (the use of numbers) or as some call it maths. Incidentally, the disciples in Greek are called the mathete, it means learner. This is all to do with knowledge and the ability to take information in and process it in a sound and proper manner. Watchtower stops all that. Sound thinking must be a basic human right. This organisation robs people of their minds. If banks get done for miselling financial products, maybe one day someone with get it, that this advertising/media company is miselling verbal products/trust. Its a con trick. It destroys more than your life and your natural ability to love. It destroys your mind, while leaving you alive to be their puppet and destroy the lives of others.

A city can be assessed by the number of transactions that take place in it and the type of transactions. Collectively the individual members of the city have generally shared aspirations. .

Each congregation is made up of individuals, depending on the mix in the congregations you get more or less genuine Christians - as you do anywhere or in any denomination.

Jesus said this

(Matthew 18:20) . . .For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.”

I joined a lovely congregation but over time it changed. The sister congregation was not recognisable as Christian.

Jesus had God's Holy Spirit and he is the head of the Christian congregation. He never gave it to the Watchtower. Those in union with Jesus are individuals not corporate (which means body) entities. The body is Jesus Christ.
